The bow styles are numbered in ascending order. Each bow defines itself by all of its features. If one or more feature do not match the intended style, the bow have to be ranked in the next higher style.  A new complete check has to be fulfilled. The correct style was found if all features matches.

List of bowstyles:
SB - Selfbow
PB - Primitive Bow
AFc - American Flatbow classic
AFm - American Flatbow modern
RBc - Reflexbow classic
RBm - Reflexbow modern
TRB - Traditional Recurvebow
BHR - Bowhunter Recurve
Applies to all bowstyles:
String:
  • The string may consist of any material.

  • Only one (1) fixed nocking point which can be marked by one or two clamping rings.

Arrows:
  • Only bullet and field target point are allowed.

  • Each arrowhead weight is allowed.

  • Nocks may be made of any material.

  • They must have the same length, feathering and tips regardless of color.


For all bowstyles forbidden:
  • All bows shall not have any mark at limbs, riser and string which could use as sight. Deemed as an exception is the natural grain of wood.

  • „Face-“ and „Stringwalking“.

  • Tools for extraction are not allowed, included are marks and paintings on the arrows which are located within the upfront third part.

  • Releases are not allowed.

  • Leveling instruments are not allowed.

  • Rangefinder, binoculars and other aiming tools and their notes are not allowed.

  • It is not allowed to change the weight of the bow during a competition.
Definition of bowstyles
SELFBOW (SB)
A self-bow is a bow made of one grown piece of wood.

Accepted:
  • Two pieces of wood spliced together in the handle (exception).

  • Leather grips and windings around the grip are accepted if not to be used as arrow rest.

  • Nocks made of horn or any other natural material at the ends.

  • Patch handles made of wood or any other natural material.


Forbidden:
  • A sight window.

  • An arrow rest.

  • Any kind of sinew strengthening (Backing).

  • No terrace or edge higher as 3 mm at any part of the wraps or 5 cm above. This would be used as an arrow-rest. Measure: With a caliper.

  • Laminated wood. Measuring: To clearly identify the bow shall not have any colored painting.

  • Bow quiver.


Arrows:
  • Wood or bamboo with natural feathers.


Schießstil:
  • Only mediterranean style over the back of the hand.

PRIMITIV BOW (PB)
Long-, recureve- or flatbow made of wood or any other natural material without any synthetic fibre.

Accepted:
  • Natural material like horn or sinew.

  • Laminates of natural materials.

  • Grip and tips can be strenghtened with natual materials.


Forbidden:
  • Arrow rest.

  • Bow window.

  • Bow quiver.


Shooting style:
  • Only Mediterranean style over the back of the hand.


Arrows:
  • Made of wood or bamboo with natural feathers..

AMERICAN FLATBOW classic (AFc)
A bow of any material, which can be either an one piece bow or a multiple pieces bow. Tensioned, the string does not touch the limbs.

Accepted:
  • An arrow shelf.

  • Bow quiver.


Forbidden:
  • An arrow shelf which exceed the center of the bow.

  • The arrow shelf shall not be in parallel to the bow long axis.

  • The bow quiver shall not be visible through the sight window.


Shooting style:
  • Only mediterranean release

  • When using a bow quiver, the rating arrows shall be taken only from the bow quiver.


Arrow:
  • Wood or bamboo.

  • Only natural feathers.

AMERICAN FLATBOW modern (AFm)
Like Longbow but all material for arrows are allowed.
A bow of any material, which can be either an one piece bow or a multiple pieces bow. Tensioned, the string does not touch the limbs.

Accepted:
  • An arrow rest.

  • Bow quiver.


Forbidden:
  • The bowquiver shall not be visible through the window.

  • The sight window must not run parallel to the longitudinal axis of the bow.

  • The bow quiver may not be visible through the sight window.


Shooting style:
  • Only mediterranean release.

  • When using a bow quiver, the rating arrows shall be taken only from the bow quiver.


Arrows:
  • All materials.

  • Only natural feathers.

REFLEX BOW classic (RBc)
A Recurve-bow made of wood or other natural material like horn or sinew without any synthetic fibre.

Forbidden:
  • Sight window.

  • Arrow rest.


Shooting style:
  • Only metiterranian release

  • or thumb release.

  • If mediterranian release than the shooting is over the back of the hand.


Arrows:
  • Wood or Bamboo.

  • Only natural feathers.

REFLEXBOW modern (RBm)
Same as Refeflex bow (RB), only more materials for bows and any material for arrows are allowed:
A Recurve-bow made of wood or other natural material like horn or sinew with or without any synthetic fibre.

Forbidden:
  • Sight window.

  • Arrow rest.


Shooting style:
  • Only metiterranian release

  • or thumb release.

  • If mediterranian release than the shooting is over the back of the hand.


Arrows:

  • All materials.

  • Only natural feathers.

TRADITIONAL RECURVE BOW (TRB)
Recurve bow made of wood.

Accepted:
  • A bow which can be either an one piece bow or a multiple pieces bow. (take down).

  • Take down: All parts, particulary the limb-cores shall be of wood.

  • Lamination or insert of lamination made of fibre glas or carbon.

  • A sight window which exceed the center of the bow.

  • The sight window can run parallel to the longitudinal axis of the bow.

  • An arrow shelf.

  • Bow quiver at the opposite side of the sight window.


Forbidden:
  • Additional arrow rest.

  • Stabilizer.

  • Additional weight.

  • The bow quiver shall not be seen through the sight window.


Arrows:
  • Any material.

  • Only natural feathers.


Shooting style:
  • Only Mediterranean release or under grip. Changing of the grip is not allowed.

  • When using a bow quiver, the rating arrows shall be taken only from the bow quiver.

BOWHUNTER RECURVE (BHR)
A recurve bow made of any material.

Accepted:
  • A bow which can be either an one piece bow or a multiple pieces bow. (take down).

  • A window which exceed the center of the bow.

  • An Arrow rest

  • Bow quiver at the opposite side as the sight window.

  • The sight window can run parallel to the longitudinal axis of the bow.

  • A straight stabilizer also with coupling appliance at a maximum length of 30,5 cm as measured by the front of the bow center section.

  • The treated insert in the center section is part of the stabilizer and adds on


Forbidden:
  • Forked Stabilizer.

  • Counterweight.

  • Modify the bow-tension during the round.


Arrows:
  • Any material.


Shooting style:
  • Only Mediterranean release or under grip. Changing of the grip is not allowed.

  • When using a bow quiver, the rating arrows shall be taken only from the bow quiver.
